Currently, we have open positions at both post-doctoral and graduate student levels (MSc and PhD). All positions are generously funded, also when considering that life in Rio de Janeiro is relatively cheap when compared to other major European or North American cities.

Post-doctoral Position

The position is for 3 years with possible extensions. The choice of project would to some degree depend on the applicant’s interests and abilities, though it is expected that the research will be purely computational.

The ideal applicant would have a PhD in Computer Science or another relevant quantitative field (e.g. Statistics, Engineering), some background in machine learning and excellent programming skills. While no previous knowledge in Biology, Medicine or Pharmacology is necessary, a keen interest in these areas is essential.

The position is full-time. The starting salary for the post is up to BR$ 12.000 per month (about 2.400 USD per month) and is not taxed.

PhD Students

The PhD at EMAp-FGV lasts 4 years. For more details about our PhD programme click here.

Fully funded scholarships are available, which include tuition fees and a stipend of up to BR$ 6.000 per month (about 1.200 USD) and is not taxed.
